Self confessed nerd and lover of all things tech. Particularly anything audio/visual and gaming, currently pulling my hair out over Demon's Souls on the PS5 and trying not to buy a new OLED TV.

Currently, there are a number of excellent 4K Blu Ray players on the market. The Sony UBP-X700 and the Xbox Series X are two of the top choices for anyone looking to enjoy movies in the highest possible quality. Each of these players offers a great picture and an excellent sound experience. However, there are some drawbacks to each. You’ll have to choose one based on your specific needs.

The Sony UBP-X700 offers a solid picture quality that’s fast and easy to load. However, this player doesn’t automatically switch between HDR10 and Dolby Vision, so you’ll have to manually enable the feature if you want to watch Dolby Vision content. It also has some reliability issues. It also doesn’t support HDR10+, so if you’re looking for a player with Dolby Vision support, you may want to look elsewhere.

The LG UBP-X800M2 is a good value 4K Blu Ray player. However, it doesn’t have a front-facing display, so you won’t be able to enjoy the full benefits of the 4K resolution. This player also doesn’t support HDR10+, which means you won’t be able to watch Netflix and other services in high resolution. This player also lacks the ability to stream content via an HDMI output, which is a feature of some other 4K players. It also doesn’t have a built-in Wi-Fi feature, so you’ll have to rely on an external USB flash drive for streaming content.

The Xbox Series X is built to act as a gaming console, but it also plays 4K UHD discs and can support Dolby Atmos audio. It’s the most versatile 4K player on the market, and it can be found in a variety of configurations. It’s also one of the more affordable 4K Blu Ray players, which makes it a good choice for customers who don’t want to pay a fortune for a player. It has a wide variety of features and is a great value. However, it does lack a front-facing display, so you’ll have to rely only on its HDMI outputs.

The Panasonic DP-UB820EB is another good 4K player that works with both HDR10 and Dolby Vision. This model also features a front-panel display, which makes it a more versatile package. It’s also more affordable than the Panasonic DP-UB9000, so if you’re looking to save money, this model is a great choice.

The LG UBK90 is another budget 4K Blu Ray player. This player is one of the best-looking 4K players on the market, and it’s also an excellent performer. It features an Ethernet jack, an optical audio output, and 1080p upscaling. It also supports HDR, Dolby Atmos, and Netflix, but it lacks Amazon Prime and Hulu.

Lastly, the Panasonic DP-UB820-K is another solid performer, but it has a premium price tag. It’s an excellent option for people who want a more affordable alternative to a Sony 4K Blu Ray player. If you want a reliable player that can take a lot of abuse, this one is worth a look. However, if you’re just looking for basic disc playback, this model isn’t for you. It’s also a little on the slow side, and the process of loading discs can take a little while.
